Kanmangafuchi Abyss

Lining the path along the abyss is a row of about 70 Jizō statues. Known as bake Jizō, or ghost Jizō, according to local legend they will disappear like ghosts and change their location. They say it’s not possible to count the same number of Jizō twice walking along the path.

Shinkyo Bridge

“Shinkyo is worth enough to decorate the entrance of sanctuary Nikko.”

Shinkyo Bridge is 28 meters long, 7.4 meters wide, and located 10.6 meters above the river. Ten main pillars are built on the rail, and top of each pillar is decorated. Opposite side of the bridge girder is black lacquered, while whole other parts are vermilion lacquered.
Establishment of Shinkyo is full of mystery, but is respected as a sacred bridge. Shinkyo was rebuilt in 1636 and became today’s appearance.

Kegon Falls

“Cascading water free falliing 97 metres”

There are 48 waterfalls in the Nikko area. The most famous of them all is Kegon Falls. Nearby is Lake Chuzenji, the source of the rushing 97 meter waterfall.

Visitors can experience all that Mother Nature has to offer throughout the different seasons. May offers fresh verdure, while swallows fly around the lake in June. Twelve smaller waterfalls around the main one freeze in January and February, coloring the entire scene in an icy blue.

TOBU wORLD sQUARE

“Extravagant miniature exhibits with incredible detail!”

Tobu World Square is a theme park in Kinugawa Onsen that exhibits 1/25th scale replicas of famous buildings from around the world. The models include ancient monuments, cultural treasures and UNESCO World Heritage Sites which are reproduced with great detail all the way down to cars, trains and miniature people populating the sites, and with gardens that change with the seasons.
